Thunderbolt Rally (NSW); 16 May. Bike, Hotrod & Mini Truck Show at Dungog Showground. Entertainment starting 12 midday till late. Tattoo show, motocross & demolition derby Saturday afternoon. Bad Penny Run & Rage (Vic); 16—17 May. Run leaves Shell Roadhouse, Penola, at 10:30 am (SA time). Best Bike (8 categories) judged on the run. Dirt drags (Sunday 11 am). RSL Girl in a Million Poker Run (Qld); 17 May. Registration will be from 8 am in the carpark of the RSL North Ipswich for a 9 am start. National Vietnam Veterans Day (NSW); 15 August. National Vietnam Veterans Day aka Long Tan Day is held at the VVMC Chapter Property Pearlbrook near Murrurundi NSW. Just follow the signs along Timor Road to Scotts Creek Road. Gates open at 10 am with an entry fee of $10; under 18-year-olds admitted free. Kids welcome. Trade stalls, plenty of food & a well stocked bar. Commemorative Service at 3.40 pm. Live musical entertainment. Plenty of camping spots available from Friday. Bring your warm clothing. 10th Annual Poker Run (FNQ); 5 September. Depart Kooyong Hotel, North Mackay, at 1 pm. $1200 best hand; $200 worst. $20 entry. Prizes drawn throughout the day. Postie Bike Challenge (Oz); 3—12 October. Nine days, 3000 plus km, on an unmodified Honda CT110. Brisbane to Melbourne the long way. A great mix of bitumen, gravel & sand. Ochre sand roads through the dingo fence to Hungerford; remote outback mining town of Whitecliffs; ascend the Snowy Mountains through Dead Horse Gap. Final celebration dinner & a soft bed at a resort at our destination. Not a race, nor a tour, it is a challenge & a whole lot of fun!
